All is quiet at the NACA...for now

It has been an enjoyable break for the Sekura family and I trust for all of you.  There was no snow on our mountain this Christmas, but plenty of winter cold!  Spending uninterupted time with family has been refreshing for me.  I am so blessed with a wonderful wife and 12-year-old daughter.  Allison is playing basketball right now at Dayton City School.  Her team is undefeated so far with only a few games left.  She has much room for growth, but it has been fun for me to watch her develop a love for the game I have spent most of life playing.

The break has also given me time to plan for 2012.  No one knows what this year holds.  We can't even assume we will be here to see it throught to 2013, but we plan as if we will.  We are stewards of our time and opportunities and I want to plan and then work the plan!  I have a great team here at the NACA and I look forward to doing Kingdom work with them this year.

If you haven't done so already, take some time to consider how wonderful God Almighty is to you.  Jeremiah said that his mercies are new every morning and great is His faithfulness.  His grace is amazing, is it not?  I hope you enjoy the remainder of 2011 and let's serve God with passion this next year.  This could be the year of His return!  God's blessings on you, and your families in this new year.

First Marathon!

It was a memorable weekend that capped off a memorable year!  I used to think that people that ran marathons were a different breed of athletes and I just assumed that I didn't have what it took to run for 26.2 miles.  Running was not on my radar unless it was running up and down a basketball court!  However, the Lord increased my confidence little by little over the last three years as I worked my way up to a half marathon in 2010.  Eighteen weeks ago I began my training for a full marathon.  After seriously aggravating my right knee in a race in October I had to rest it and never ran more than 16 miles leading into Saturdays marathon in Huntsville, AL.  I'm thankful that the Lord carried me through the race to the finish line.  It was emotional for me, because, by God's grace, I did something that I believed was impossible for me to do.  My friends in Huntsville, especially the Johnsons, made it even more special.  Great memories.

Do you have a dream?  Is there something you want to attempt, but are afraid to fail?  Give it your best shot and you may be surprised at your potential.  Even if you try and come up short, you will never regret not giving the Lord a chance to do something extraordinary in your life.

Let's live our lives for the Lord with the same abandonment.  We are all His.  Be aggressive for Him and His cause.  Let's make 2012 the year that we give God the chance to do something special through us for his glory.

Snow Day!

I spent the last 13 years in Tallahassee, Florida and never saw snow. Today I got to see it for the second time in 2 weeks! Today was pretty heavy....for Tennessee. Our football fields were covered so it looked pretty cool. Dave and Ken are in North Carolina for the Christian Camp and Conference Association's annual conference. Please be in prayer for them as they are there looking for new ideas to implement here at Fort Bluff/NACA.

Today is the 70th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. On a day like this I think about all the service men and women who have died for our country. We are truly blessed to live in this nation and we are thankful for the sacrifice of so many.

Take some time today and get in the Word. God is so good to us...let's get to know Him better.

Welcome!

While we update our website and make it more user-friendly, we thought it might be a good idea if Ken, Dave and I started a blog. We will post a blog on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week. Check out the blog on those days to get an encouraging word as well as an NACA update. Look for us to begin the blog this Wednesday.

Thanks for supporting the NACA and God bless you!
